Rural Planning
Owen Devenport Ltd have been a rurally based firm that is rooted in our North Wales base, and we have been advising farmers and other rural based businesses since our inception.
Rural planning, of course, raises its own unique issues with a complex interaction between promoting development and balancing that against the imperative to retain the rural character of the area within which a site is set and factors such as suitability, the ability of communities to accommodate new development, and ecological and biodiversity considerations.
We believe that we offer the detailed technical knowledge and expertise to assist those seeking to promote development in rural areas in all sectors, ranging from agricultural and forestry development, Rural Enterprise Dwellings, to tourism, commercial, and residential development of all scales.
Our Director, Jamie Bradshaw, is originally from Cumbria and has extensive knowledge of rural development issues from his Geography Degree at Bangor University, and has throughout his time in practice been involved with many different rural based developments and has been the key specialist on Rural Enterprise & farm diversification applications in the company.
Our Senior Planning Consultant and former Director, Berwyn Owen, was a Chartered Surveyor with Bob Parry & Co and moved on to become responsible, as Assistant Director of Property Services, for Anglesey County Council's estate of 150 smallholdings.
With a range of offices in North Wales, Owen Devenport are able to serve the whole of Wales as well as the English border counties. This is an unrivalled professional service covering a geographical area that is rich in farming and rural history. We can offer the services of no fewer than 3 Chartered Town Planners and a Chartered Surveyor and so can offer planning advice at the very highest level. The farming and rural community can feel confident that they are well served by a blend of personnel that have their roots in rural planning.
